Do You Have What it Takes to Achieve Your Goals?
When you want something – a promotion, new job, to lose weight, improve your skills, find a more fulfilling relationship, get up earlier, or something else – do you have what it takes to achieve success?
Recently one of my cats (yes, I said cats) figured out how to open the closet door and get to his food. (Maybe other cat owners are used to this, I am not!) No matter how tightly I close the doors, he still manages to get inside. The cat is relentless – he wants his food. As a result, he figured out how to open the door and get to it.
That combined with a recent workshop I attended as well as a short conversation with my husband leads me to wonder what it really takes to “get things done”. A few questions arise:
- Do you have the desire you need to accomplish your goals? (I know my cat strongly desires his food. What is it you desire?)
- Do you have the tools and/or skills necessary to achieve what you set out to do or do you need support? (My cat has agility, paws and teeth that help him open the doors, see video below. What skills do you have?)
- Do you have the energy – mentally and physically – needed to give it your all, try new things (over and over if necessary) and figure out how to get “it” done? (I have seen him try this again and again until he was successful. Are you willing to put in that effort assuming you have the desire?)
For fun, here is a video of my boy Habibi, sliding open the closet door.
